OUTFIT: Festival Style #1

I picked up these cute 'daisy duke' style shorts from H&M recently and they're perfect festival wear. I teamed them with this floral shirt, also H&M, which is a really nice light material, ideal for when you dancing among a throng of sweaty bodies. You obviously need a pair of shades, and my pick are these from River Island; I like them because they have a cool retro vibe about them.

A 'pack-a-mac' is ideal for festival goers. You can pick them up fairly cheaply at most high street stores, I got mine a couple of years back from Topshop for roughly £20, but I have seen them cheaper elsewhere.

Hair ties are a necessity as after all the jumping around, sweat and beer that's likely to end up on your tresses, you are going to want to tie that hair back - or put on a hat?!

I picked up this small cotton duffle bag from Primark for only £4. It's an ideal festival bag as you can wear it across the body, it's light, fits all the essentials in, and you can tie the strings together to avoid people trying to pinch stuff from inside your bag.

What do you think of this festival look?

Festival Hairspiration

Glastonbury kicks off the festival season this week and everyone seems to have caught festival fever.
I myself am not camping at a festival this year, just attending a few day festivals. I am jealous of everyone packing up their tents and heading off for a few days camping in a muddy field!

I have compiled a few of my favourite festival inspired hair styles for all of you festival goers this summer:
  • Boho waves are perfect for festivals. Curl your hair into perfect waves for the first day or two and spritz with salt spray to add texture. You can add a flower garland, small braids or headbands to create a cute festival feel.
  • Plaits are perfect for days 2-3. Braid hair into two plaits and pin on top of the head for a lovely look and to keep hair out of your face.
  • Top knots are cute, messy and perfect for the last day(s) of the festival. You can add a colourful scarf or little flowers around the knot to give that festival vibe.
Which look is your fave? What festival are you (or wish you were) attending this Summer?

The Fault in Our Stars Review & What I Wore

We went to see The Fault in our Stars on Friday night, and having read the book I can safely say that the film does it justice.
Making our way to our seats, through the throng of teenage girls, I was slightly nervous that the film I was about to witness another (crappy) teen love story. But I was SO wrong.
The film is touching, and the performances are really heartfelt; I don't think there was a dry eye in the cinema by the time the credits rolled. The film is shot beautifully too, and I loved the soundtrack so much! The acting is also excellent, although I did have high hopes that this would be the case, having seen Shailene's performance in The Descendents which was brilliant.  This film most definitely stands apart from other teenage book/ film adaptations which I have seen - not as good as The Notebook, but nearly!
My fave track from the soundtrack: M38 - Wait

I also thought I would include a few snaps of what I wore to make this post more visual. So, since we were only going to the cinema I went for a really laid back, casual look. I wore my trusty Topshop 'mom' jeans, teamed with a little crop top, my New Look cut-out shoes and my current fave item; my lemon print clutch bag that I picked up from River Island a while back.

Anyone seen the film yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

'Girl about Town' & OOTD

Since I haven't blogged in a while, I thought that today I would do a little style/OOTD post, which I actually meant to post a while back.

I usually play it safe when it comes to colour in my wardrobe and don't often sport bright colours; I have a hell of a lot of black and white items. Oh, I do love monochrome!
Anyway, I picked this skirt up a while back in H&M and thought it worthy of a feature in a style post.

I am often apprehensive of going head to toe in a bold/ bright colour, so I tend to buy a lot of brightly coloured accessories instead. I teamed my monochrome inspired outfit with bright accessories: my super-high, pillar box red, wedges, turquoise necklace and my current fave lipstick in 'girl about town' by Mac.

Top / Topshop
Skirt / H&M
Wedges / Topshop
Sunglasses / River Island
Necklace / Miss Selfridge
Lipstick / Mac

White Jeans

White Jeans

Follow me on Polyvore here.

I love white jeans for summer. To be honest, I love white everything in summer really, I even love the white nail trend at the moment! But being a massive jeans lover, I'm after a good pair of white jeans, preferably ripped as I'm very much enjoying that trend and feel they suit my laid back style. Anyway, I have put together a little look of how I would typically style white jeans for a summer's day.
I love the jeans featured above, but I have a very similar pair in black (see here) and would love a pair with a more distressed look rather than huge rips. If anyone has seen any that fit that description, please let me know!
