Wanderlust & NYC dreaming

new york travel ideas for a short city vacation
Over the last few years I have become more eager to want to see the world  - I have been on quite a few city breaks and I've loved all of them, but I keep thinking more and more about how I'd love to see even more unexplored areas of this world. "A strong desire or urge to wander or travel and explore the world." - yep I am truly wanderlust.
However, right now I am looking forward to my next city vacation. This time I am off to the ultimate city destination, in my opinion, New York!! And to say that I am excited would be an understatement!

Even though it is now only two weeks away until we fly out, it feels like I have been waiting a lifetime - I have wanted to go for as long as I can remember and now that day is finally approaching I couldn't be happier. I have saved and dreamt of going to NYC for what feels like a lifetime and I just know it's going to live up to each and every one of my expectations.

I am currently piecing together a rough itinerary as I want to maximise the time we have there and try to see and do as much as possible! I have found using pinterest a godsend; it's so easy to bring together lots of travel tips and ideas, places to see and things to do, and my favourite - where to eat! You can see my board so far here.
I still need lots more ideas, and I need your help! I want to hear from any of you who have been to NYC or even better those of you who live there, please leave a comment and let me know what I mustn't miss in NYC.

I've only been twice but the second time I stayed with a friend who was in school, so I wandered around a LOT by myself which was so amazing. Honestly, the obvious ones like putting together a grocery-store picnic in central park, the top of the Empire State Building (ohhhhhhh the views!), taking the subway when you can, little Italy, Chinatown, and ohhhhh there's this Cuban place on Chelsea St in SoHo that has AMAZING corn on the cob.

  3. that is so exciting, you are going to LOVE nyc!!!

  4. Just tweeted you but if you want to know anything then give me a shout. I only went for 4 days in April but did/saw loads. Really is one of the best places I've been to. You'll love it! A shopping haven.

  5. Great post. I really want to go to New York now.
